During the next couple of weeks, I am changing some of the decor in my home and creating a new look both in the dining room and in the den. I am attempting a more serene look---one that will be fresh and inviting. I will post photos soon and hope you will follow along with me as I make some long needed changes.

It has been said so many times that life has its ups and downs. How very true that statement is. The past year has been one of difficulty and heartache. There were times I wondered if I would make it through. Yet, in the midst of all the difficulty, I found strength and courage. There were moments of sheer bliss and tremendous joy that could only be explained by the presence of a loving Heavenly Father. I found myself being blessed even in the midst of adversity.

So, as a new year begins, I am not making New Year's resolutions. I would rather seek to live each day to the fullest, to love God more fully, and enjoy life as the rich blessing it is. To that end, I will cherish my faith, love my family, and create a home that is a warm and loving sanctuary. I hope you will join me on my journey.
I filled it with my favorite ornaments, a pearl necklace, a wintery floral pic, and stood my favorite Santa ornament close by. I love the snowy look of it all.

I am late posting some of my Christmas decor and activities but I must say I am enjoying the season this year. The blessings of my gracious Lord have been many and abundant. I am grateful for all He has given me, but thankful most of all for the blessing of family and friends.
She is a sheer delight to be with and always makes me smile no matter how awful things may be. I love her dearly.

Every Christmas, I host a Christmas Tea Party for my friends. Betty's daughter, Susan, and Betty's granddaughter Kelly, also came to my gathering this year. Susan is the dearest friend I have ever had. She has been with me through the sorrows and the joys and I cannot imagine life without Susan being there.
She sings and plays music in our church and is such a lovely Christian. I never fail to be blessed by her positive attitude and her loving kindness. I often call her my "protege" .
The following photos are a little peek into some of my Christmas decor this year.
I bought the house at Bath and Body a few years ago. The little people are actually salt and pepper shakers I found at a hospital gift shop. I bought the peppermint trees at Kohl's during a fabulous sale this year.
I bought it while Susan and I were doing some Christmas shopping. The picture is a Christmas photo of my grandsons. Gabriel is on the right and was four when this was taken. Michael is on the left and was three. I love this photo of them and thought the frame was perfect in my kitchen this year.
I loved him the moment I saw him and he has been a part of my mantel decorations ever since. He sits on the left side of the hatbox you saw earlier.
These three were my favorites this year and are on the right side of my mantel. Susan bought me a new one this year to add to my collection. You will see it here soon.

Though there are others who decorate far better and far more elaborately than I, it is a joy to share with you some of my favorite things. I hope you enjoyed the photos and may your Christmas be blessed with all good things.
To those of you who have been blessed with a spouse and are enjoying the love you share on a daily basis, I wish you Happy Valentine's Day. This is a day to remember the one you love---to remember the love you share and the joy of being together. No greater love exists than that of two people coming together and sharing their hearts with each other. Only the love of God Himself is greater than this.
May each of you be blessed with a wonderful Valentine's Day. May the love you share grow deeper still and last a lifetime.
Personal illness, a heavy work schedule, and the loss of several dear friends and family members have kept me from being able to think and/or write clearly. The past two months have been very difficult and I have struggled to come to terms with life's events. I have prayed some of my most earnest prayers and held to the promises of God's Word---both of which have become my strength.
I have discovered through this awful time that God is faithful. He is unwavering in His love, every present in time of need, ever willing to bear my pain when I am unable to bear it myself. The teachings of my childhood as a pastor's child have held me in good stead. Many times I have, in memory, heard my father's strong, booming voice speaking words that have given me direction and purpose. God is, indeed, faithful and uses many ways to help us in times of distress.
Graceful Moments, my primary blog, is my inspirational writing. It is where I write from my spiritual heart the things God places in my spirit. Tea and Roses is meant to show my day to day life and the joys I find in living with the blessings God has given me. My blogs have given me such an outlet and enabled me to meet such lovely people. I hope, very soon, to be able to return to each of you the blessing you have been to me by bringing some small measure of joy and peace to your lives through what I post.
So, as I emerge from a time of great testing, I ask each of you to remember me in your prayers. I have been so encouraged by so many of my blogger friends and I thank you for your concern. I am reminded of a passage of scripture written by the Apostle Paul in which he states that after we have endured great sorrow, we are able to comfort others with the comfort that we, ourselves, have received from God. May He comfort, encourage, and bless each of you today with the riches of His presence and His abiding love.

In Grace,
MarieMoments of Gracehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03106070161165702778noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5449034709674511353.post-47208620347805942592010-05-10T11:01:00.000-07:002010-05-10T11:55:27.051-07:00A Birthday Tea<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 180px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiLUWk13pD3aS5dtfgLcmH3clceWXaDM94SWwMUDjAzcJ6ZReE1d3cxyWunwgnQEgAP3XIYv0L59fbW_4Dc1E1A9hSmMJa11cZ6RrqnPejN6XoXFFyXS43pi1O4ukGLR3vFyFZthHiPrqA/s320/IMG_0367.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5469703931372720610" />
Angel centerpiece for the table

My friend, Janet, wanted a tea party for her birthday. As some of you may know, I host adult tea parties for special occasions. Janet told me that she didn't care what theme I chose as long as it was "pink". Since I am a confirmed "pinkaholic" this request was just what I loved.

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 180px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjSSIYd4eXs691dPyqeWYGxPDfeHW-VrbulEpedvD7lIu8tYjDYcuJAvQMoSH1w8ujzZFCld_j93KeUw4dh9CUSFhHXIecYb743RK_8vmTB41FGWpf3wPCtX_2vUq2zmYyB2vvHuuEWt-0/s320/IMG_0369.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5469704738340715378" />
It all began with pink roses

I cannot imagine a tea party without flowers and pink roses fit the bill perfectly. I divided a dozen roses into small clusters, placed them in bud vases, and set them at either end of the table. My friend and pastor's wife, Susan, was gracious enough to let us host the party in her beautiful dining room. She also provided her lovely china for our gathering. The roses and china complimented each other so wonderfully. The angel centerpiece is actually a tree topper I picked up at Hobby Lobby during the Christmas season several years ago. I thought she looked perfect on the table. I scattered some rose petals over the white damask , added some tea lights at each place setting, and the table came to life.

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 180px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgyOGLC41atjVkboP4VoolSqRs0_c9eYeOj6k-LffU2LlOL4GA1oWuetNCk6G8wQHl01P5PpZX6z12UwWNrgSJt-UrkI887qPwU8hnuAS1_Wu452CfdRhQ2CBrBHydPsmfBuodODzHizJc/s320/IMG_0364.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5469710639875798594" />
Buffet area with tea party fare

Our menu was delicious. We have consoled, comforted, and prayed each other through many difficult times. We have also shared the joy of friendship, closeness, and love. We are bound by cords that cannot be broken. I am so blessed to have precious friends such as these. What an added bonus that they also love pink. It has taken me a while to find the right place--a lovely apartment with a small balcony that overlooks a beautiful wooded area. I am hoping to be able to stay there for a year or so and then buy a home in the same area.
I will be really busy the next couple of weeks with a new project suggested to me by my pastor's wife, Susan. She challenged me to decorate my new home without buying new decorative items. Susan titled the project, "Decorating With What You Already Have." So, in accepting her challenge I will be posting photos of "before and after" for each project along with how I did it all. I am so looking forward to this and hope you all will enjoy decorating with me.
Until my next post, I pray you all have a blessed Easter with your families. Always with three or four close friends and always about a week before Christmas. The picture above is of my friends that came to my home this year. They are (from left to right) my pastor's wife and my dear friend, Susan, my friend Sonyia, and Susan's daughter, Kelly. We had such a lovely time.

I have discovered that it doesn't take a lot for people who are good friends to enjoy getting together. Although we had good food and the decor was lovely, it was the time we spent together that counted. Another friend of mine once said, "It is the celebrations of life that make it rich.". How true---how true.
May you enjoy your gathering of friends, no matter what the celebration.

In Grace,
MarieMoments of Gracehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03106070161165702778noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5449034709674511353.post-83011206195048251022009-12-31T09:06:00.001-08:002010-01-01T06:34:38.685-08:00Welcome 2010<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 202px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg5LzY0r8kPyuBVQ4CnelZ4b_rWK4b39Mue3NA_Ac2rvBK39FYlDwo6CSBSm8EmSlF_r1BKDpOM2TOFdlMMOrl9ips_KL6GJIMutwNS3yTXVpmkHuRmWGAi88s6S6UoFNWkru78EAhA5lg/s320/new-year-greeting.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5421779720263024306" />
Blessings to all my friends and loved ones as we begin a new year. There is nothing about this time of year that does not fill my heart with joy and gladness!!!! Wonderful childhood memories mingle with more recent memories to make this season full of good thoughts and good wishes.
I recently hosted a holiday tea party for several of my close friends. I will be posting those photos in the next day or two. We had such a wonderful time!! We shared good food, exchanged gifts, and gathered around the piano to sing Christmas carols. We shared funny stories of past Christmases and memories of our favorite childhood Christmas. How wonderful is the blessing of good friends at Christmas!
God is so good to send people into our lives that give us joy and gladness of heart as well as support and strength. My friends have stuck with me through thick and thin--in sorrow and joy--in laughter and tears. I love the scripture that says, "A friend loveth at all times" (Proverbs 17:17). I see this on a daily basis in the lives of those I call friends.
May your holiday season, filled with family and friends, be blessed with all good things this year. May your memories of this Christmas especially be joyful and rich. Finally, may the Babe in the manger become your best friend of all. May we all adore Him, for He alone is worthy.

In Grace,
MarieMoments of Gracehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03106070161165702778noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5449034709674511353.post-38000228160249952552009-12-03T09:30:00.001-08:002009-12-03T09:32:56.221-08:00<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 199px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEicKMCGFfaTP0Oo0z_BH4ef5TTnYidnl4RYYEkW8NDR9SN3Ifwr4zAE_PpIHwjba9fLKeGeOZ5c6voQvCPn6yxgZyIFXfAZHb69si9bUsrkB8RdJKvLJ3l6_pNCFSdTwF9vEA20L68COwQ/s400/1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5411063740774693810" />
This lovely little victorian face says it all. Two dear family friends have passed as well as two beloved ladies in our church family. Along with personal illness, including the dreaded swine flu, I have delayed beginning my lovely new profession. It has been a difficult time for me.
Recently, though, I have had some lovely times of fellowship with the ladies of my church as we celebrated birthdays and personal achievements. I will be posting some beautiful photographs of our times together in the upcoming week.
In the meantime, do make time for yourself. A cup of tea, a verse of scripture, and a moment of meditation will settle your spirit and refresh your mind. My our wonderful God bless you today with all good things---as only He can.

In Grace,
MarieMoments of Gracehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03106070161165702778noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5449034709674511353.post-25881293883004500952009-08-08T19:23:00.000-07:002009-08-09T18:38:34.585-07:00Come For TeaFor some time now I have been hostessing tea parties for my friends and family members. It all started in 1997 with my first tea party being at Chritmas. It was attended by friends from work and we had a lovely time. That began a tradition that I have continued every year. It is an event that I always look forward to.
Since moving to North Carolina two years ago, I have begun having birthday tea parties for my close friends and their families. It has been the beginning of what I consider a rewarding experience. My first tea party was for my longtime friend and Pastor's wife, Susan. After the party, Susan told me I should turn this into a business and use my creative talents to bless others who may not have the opportunity to do this kind of entertaining for themselves. So, I prayed about it and here we are.
It is my joy and humble pleasure to be able to bring an afternoon of delight and beauty to others. I will be posting photos of some of our tea parties in the future and am hoping you will all enjoy them.
This business effort is dedicated to all who will find peace, love, and laughter in the time it takes to share a cup of tea and a few moments of time. I give this business to the God I serve and ask His blessing over each moment of this endeavor.

In Grace,
MarieMoments of Gracehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03106070161165702778noreply@blogger.com1
